Telbox Terms of Service

Last updated: July 9, 2026 · Version: 1.1

These Terms govern your use of Telbox. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.

The Privacy Policy at telbox.ai/privacy is incorporated by reference and explains exactly what we do with your data. If anything here conflicts with the Privacy Policy on a data-processing topic, the Privacy Policy controls for that topic.

1. The service

Telbox is an AI-native voice-notes and messaging app (iOS, Android, and related clients). We provide:

  • A way to record voice notes and send them to other people, end-to-end encrypted in transit.
  • An AI layer (on by default for new accounts; you can turn it off) that can transcribe, summarize, and extract action items from your voice notes and messages.
  • Voice and video calling.
  • The infrastructure to deliver messages reliably, including push notifications and offline queueing.
  • The ability to export what you've created and to delete your account at any time.

We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a material change, we will tell you in-app first.

2. Your account

To use Telbox you need an account. By creating one you confirm:

  • The information you provide is accurate (your name and phone number used to sign up).
  • You are at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and 18 you have your parent or guardian's permission.
  • You are not on any sanctions list that would prohibit us from offering you the service under UAE, US, or EU law.
  • You will not let anyone else use your account.

You are responsible for the security of your device and your account credentials. If you lose access, use the in-app recovery path or contact us at hello@telbox.ai.

3. Service status

Telbox may still be evolving rapidly. Software:

  • May contain bugs, may lose data, may change feature behavior between builds.
  • Is not yet covered by any paid-tier reliability commitment unless you are on a paid plan that expressly includes one.

We will work hard to avoid data loss and will tell you if we know of a material incident that affects your data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Telbox to:

  • Send messages that harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate anyone.
  • Send content that sexually exploits minors. Such content is reported to the relevant authorities and your account is permanently banned.
  • Send spam, phishing, or unsolicited bulk messages.
  • Distribute malware, exploits, or any code intended to compromise other users' devices.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where local law explicitly grants you that right.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our infrastructure without prior written permission. Responsible-disclosure security research is welcome — see "Security research" below.
  • Use the service for any purpose that violates UAE law or the law of the country you are using it from.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Egregious violations (CSAM, threats of violence) are reported to the relevant authorities.

5. Content you send

You own what you create. You retain all rights to the voice notes, text messages, and any files you send. You grant us only the minimum permission needed to operate the service: to encrypt, store, and deliver your messages to the recipients you choose, and — when AI is enabled for a conversation — to decrypt and process that content as described in §6 and the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not display your content publicly. We do not share it with anyone other than the recipients you send to and the processors needed to run the features you use.

Encryption is end-to-end in transit. Message content is stored as ciphertext we cannot read while it is only being delivered. When AI is on for a conversation, we decrypt content inside our infrastructure solely to provide AI features (see §6). If we get a lawful production order for your messages, what we can hand over depends on what exists for that account — typically ciphertext for message bodies, and AI-derived data only where AI was enabled. Read telbox.ai/privacy for the full data inventory.

Recipient-side AI. Because Telbox is a messaging service, content you send may be AI-processed on the recipient's behalf if the recipient has AI enabled for that conversation, in the same no-training manner described in §6 and in Privacy Policy §3.5. If you do not want a particular conversation AI-processed, ask the recipient to disable AI for it; the conversation's AI status is visible in its Trust Center.

You're responsible for the content you send. If you send something that infringes someone else's copyright, defames them, or violates the law, that's on you, not us. We will respond to lawful takedown requests.

6. The AI layer

AI features (transcription, summarization, task extraction, memory of people and facts, Ask, and related features) are on by default for new accounts. You can turn them on or off per conversation and for your whole account, at any time.

When AI is on:

  • Your messages are decrypted inside our AI worker so those features can run, then the in-memory plaintext is discarded.
  • Derived outputs (for example transcripts and summaries) may be stored with your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Processing routes through a single paid AI endpoint under contractual terms that prohibit training on your content. The same endpoint is used on every tier; tiers change usage limits, not this privacy posture.
  • The AI may be wrong. Always verify anything important — extracted task due dates, people's names, summarized commitments — before acting on it.
  • You can delete AI-derived data with "Clear AI memory" in Settings, and you can delete your account entirely.

Server-side processing of AI content. You understand and agree that when AI features are enabled for a conversation, Telbox decrypts the relevant content on its servers solely to provide those features, and routes it to a third-party AI processor engaged as a paid service under a contractual term that prohibits training on your content. This decryption does not occur for conversations where AI is turned off. Enabling or using an AI feature constitutes your instruction to Telbox to perform this processing. You can withdraw that instruction at any time by disabling AI (per conversation or account-wide), which stops any further AI decryption of your content.

We are not liable for actions you take based on AI-derived content that turns out to be wrong.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but we do not guarantee zero downtime. We may take the service offline for maintenance, security incidents, or operator error.

If a sustained outage prevents you from using the service for an extended period and you have paid us for that period, we will refund the affected portion as required by applicable law and our refund policies.

8. Pricing and payment

Telbox currently offers a free consumer tier. Paid plans (when enabled in your build and region) are disclosed in-app and on telbox.ai/pricing.

When you choose a paid plan:

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as you select.
  • Apple's App Store and Google Play handle billing for in-app purchases on their platforms. Refunds for those charges are handled by Apple or Google per their refund policies.
  • Off-store billing (for example Business or Private Server plans) may be handled by Stripe or invoice; those terms are presented at checkout.
  • Cancel any time from the relevant store subscription settings or billing portal.
  • Your data does NOT get deleted when you cancel — you simply lose access to paid features. Your account continues on the free tier until you delete it.

9. Intellectual property

The Telbox app, our backend, our brand, and our designs are ours and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Your license to use the app is personal, non-transferable, and revocable. You may not copy the app, distribute it, or use the brand commercially without our written permission.

The third-party open-source components inside the app are listed in Settings → About → Licenses. Each is governed by its own license; nothing in these Terms restricts the rights you have under those licenses.

10. Security research

If you find a security issue, please contact info@telbox.ai (or the contact on telbox.ai/security/disclosure). We will:

  • Acknowledge receipt within 48 hours.
  • Keep you informed of the fix timeline.
  • Credit you publicly if you wish (or stay anonymous).
  • Refrain from taking legal action against good-faith security research that does not access other users' data, does not degrade the service for others, and does not disclose the issue publicly before we have a fix.

A formal bug-bounty program may follow public launch.

11. Termination

You can delete your account from the in-app Settings → Delete Account screen, at any time, without explanation. You can also request deletion at telbox.ai/delete. All your data is removed per the Privacy Policy retention table (including encrypted media blobs we hold for delivery).

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, especially the Acceptable Use rules. We will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so or we believe doing so would risk other users' safety.

12. Liability

We provide Telbox "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We disclaim all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose).
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages — lost business, lost data, lost profits, etc.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. If you live in one of those jurisdictions, the parts that are not allowed do not apply, and the rest still does.

We do not exclude or limit our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude.

13. Indemnification

If a third party brings a claim against us because of how you used Telbox in violation of these Terms, you agree to defend us and cover the resulting costs, except to the extent that the claim arises from our own gross negligence or wrongdoing.

14. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in any material way we will notify you in-app and require you to review the new version before continuing to use the service. Continuing to use Telbox after a change means you accept the new Terms.

Minor edits (typo fixes, contact updates) take effect when posted; we will keep a "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Telbox shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a claim in your local consumer-protection forum if local law gives you that right.
